Measurement trouble: General
Are the sensors paired?
Pairing must be performed in order to use a sensor.
Is the sensor battery flat?
• Replace the battery with a new one.
Important
If using a CATEYE sensor, the measurements related to the sensor's battery replacement period start flashing to indicate that it is time to replace the battery.
* For details on replacing CATEYE sensor batteries, refer to the sensor’s online manual.
Is the magnet in the correct position relative to the sensor?
• Read the sensor’s instruction manual and attach the sensor correctly.
* When using a CATEYE sensor, refer to the sensor’s online manual for installation instructions.
Are you also using a smartphone application that is connecting to the Bluetooth® sensor?
• The Bluetooth® sensor may be connected to the smartphone. Bluetooth® sensors are only able to connect with a single device at a time. Stop using all apps (including Cateye Cycling™) or change the app settings to prevent connection to a Bluetooth® sensor.
Was the power just recently turned on?
• It may take a few minutes after turning the power on for a GPS signal to be acquired (about 2 to 3 minutes in an open space outdoors).
It may also take longer if the unit has not been used for a long time or if the unit is far away from the last location in which it was used.Is the location or weather appropriate for acquiring a GPS signal?
A GPS signal may not be available in the following locations and situations, resulting in measurement being interrupted and prevent proper measurements from being acquired.
• In a tunnel, underground, in a building, between high-rise buildings, under elevated roads, in an arcade, etc.
• Bad weather (snow, rain, etc.)
• Near high-voltage power lines or cellular relay stations
• When moving before a GPS signal could be acquired
• When using after a prolonged period of disuse or at a location far away from the last location the device was used
Is the AVVENTURA mounted horizontally or slightly tilted backward?
• If the AVVENTURA is mounted on handlebars, adjust the angle of the bracket.
Measurement will not start
Is [READY] or [PAUSE] flashing on the measurement screen?
• Press the SS button to start measuring.
Ready
Pause
Start or resume measurement
Current speed remains at 0 even after starting measurement (when using a sensor capable of speed measurement)
Is the magnet in the correct position relative to the sensor? (If using a speed/cadence sensor, verify that the magnet is in the correct position relative to the speed-side sensor zone.)
• Read the sensor’s instruction manual and attach the sensor correctly. If the unit is not mounted correctly, the current speed will be “0”.
* For more details on mounting/using a CATEYE sensor, refer to the sensor’s online manual.
The current speed becomes 0 during measurement (when measuring speed without a sensor capable of measuring speed)
If the GPS signal is lost, (GPS sensitivity) flashes and measurement is not possible.
For details, see “No GPS signal available” on this page.
* Only the total trip time will be measured in this state.
Measurement stops unexpectedly
Has the trip exceeded the maximum time for one trip (recording interval 1 second = 96 hours)?
• Finish measurement and save the trip data.
Current speed becomes extremely low (when measuring speed using GPS)
In arcades, tunnels, and other locations or bad weather not suitable for receiving a GPS signal, the measurement can be interrupted or inaccurate.
For details, see “No GPS signal available” on this page.
Power-saving screen is displayed during measurement
Using a speed/cadence sensor: Is the magnet in the correct position relative to the speed-side sensor zone?
If the wheel magnet is misaligned or not mounted correctly, measurement cannot be performed, resulting in the current speed being “0” and the power-saving screen being displayed after 10 minutes. Check the position of the speed sensor and the magnet.
* Speed measurement using GPS is not possible when using a sensor capable of speed measurement.
* When using a CATEYE speed/cadence sensor, refer to the sensor’s online manual for installation instructions.
When measuring speed using GPS: Have 10 minutes passed since the GPS signal was lost?
Without receiving speed information for more than about 10 minutes, the power-saving screen is displayed.
Backlight doesn’t come on
Is the time set for Night Mode correct?
• The Night Mode on/off times determine the timeframe for when the backlight on the AVVENTURA comes on.
* When automatic display illumination is enabled, the time is automatically adjusted according to the sunset and sunrise of the current season.
